Paper Dolls and Paper Houses

Good thing about taking airplanes is the view from the top. I always like looking at how houses and trees would slowly shrink from life-size figures to minute spots as planes ascended. Thus, this blog post's title.

Anyway, the company that I currently work for had an event in Manila. I had to attend as this was my first time attending as a participant and being exposed to this kind of events would allow me to grow as a person and as an employee in the company.

It's actually like a team-building camp for our clients. Only thing is, I came as participant so I get the privilege of enjoying the same benefits that our clients enjoyed during the stay unlike if I went to that event as staff.

I had to prepare for the event. It wasn't going to start that same day that I arrived in Manila but I had to ya know... dress to impress. Hahaha.

So this was what I wore. It was raining really hard and I heard there was a typhoon but it didn't stop me from wearing this cute little dress. I really like to look sweet and feminine.
Who doesn't, anyway? Hahaha.

And this was me getting bored, doing nothing inside the plane. I was alone so I had no one to talk to but I met this cute guy the moment the plane landed. He helped me with my stuff but I think I didn't hear his name right. Hahaha. I should wear hearing aids next time.

I think this is all for now.
Hmmm... I will be showing some more about what happened when I arrived in my next posts so see yah!

Lotsah love,

Stop Comparing and Move Ahead

It's been a whirlwind trying to figure out what I wanted to do in life and the things that I've been doing now. I just feel so uneasy, so unsure. I don't know what's really missing but I'm sure I'm gonna find out soon.

I pretty much wanted to do two (2) things:
1. go to Law School [Yes, I really do. It frustrates me. Haha]

You can read this article to understand my story about going to law school:http://frommybeautifulmind.blogspot.com/2011/10/my-results-day-look-and-lot-about-law.html
2. work for a company that allowed me to wear colorful dresses and outfits once in a while [Yes. Like high heels, colorful tank tops and blazers. Name it and I wanna wear it!]

Perhaps, after having heard the things I had just said, you'd think I'm crazy.
But really? I'm not. It took me a couple of years to finally realize that that's all I wanna be. Marriage would then set in later. Hahaha.

I just know what I want and I want either of those 2 things first and then pursue the other.
However, much as I'd like to do number 1, I can't.

I can't due to some personal reasons, which-- if I reveal them here-- would make the other person involved seem like a villain in my heroic life.

Thus, I share to you this simple inspirational passage by Daniell Koepke:

"Stop comparing where you're at with where everyone else is. It doesn't move you farther ahead, improve your situation or help you find peace. It just feeds your shame, fuels your feelings of inadequacy and ultimately, it keeps you stuck. The reality is that there is no one correct path in life. Everyone has their own unique journey. A path that's right for someone else won't necessarily be a path that's right for you. And that's okay. Your journey isn't right or wrong, or good or bad. It's just different. Your life isn't meant to look like someone else's because you aren't like anyone else. You're a person all your own with a unique set of goals, obstacles, dreams and needs. So stop comparing and start living. You may not have ended up where you intended to go. But trust, that for once, you have ended up where you needed to be. Trust that you are in the right place at the right time. Trust that your life is enough. Trust that you are enough."

Have a nice day! :)

Cute Ring

I bought this ring from a shop here in Iloilo. It's my favorite place for unique yet affordable finds. I have always been looking for that serpentine type of ring, which I never found until now. However, as I stepped into the shop, I found this by accident and fell in love with it the first time I laid my eyes on it. There are stones (of course, they're not diamonds!) in blue and white colors.

I really love the way it hugs into my ring finger and make all the people notice it immediately as soon as I write something or do something that has to involve the use of my hands. Accessorizing, I believe, should be something every woman should know. Although natural beauty is better than artificial, let's admit it, accessories and jewelries add that stunning look and feel to every woman- making her look all the more beautiful and sophisticated.

Have a nice day :)

Wardrobe Panic

Looking at this mess makes me want to puke! I'm not exaggerating but my clothes look better than this if I just have enough time to fix them.

Lately, I've been very busy to the point of being not able to prepare my clothes the night before.
Thus, I always end up eating less than my usual breakfast and putting on make-up in less than 10 minutes.
Sigh. I really want to unwind. Say go to the beach.
Wear my swimwear and simply enjoy the sun and the feel of cold smoothie going down my throat. Hahaha.
How detailed!

However, I can't. I just wish I had more time for myself. I also end up wearing not-so-good clothes so I end up wearing an outfit I never really wanted to wear. Sometimes, it just pisses me off to think that I could've worn something better had I prepared it the night before.

Maybe I need to use my time wisely and try my best to balance my time. :(

Colorful and Bendable Bracelets from Gorgeous

Take a look at these very colorful and unique bendable bracelets from Gorgeous. Don't you just love them? The first time I saw them, I fell in love with them!

However, this one's the one I chose to have for myself. I gave the other one to a Japanese student because I really liked her. She's always so sweet, bubbly and amiable.

Thus, I gave the blue and brown one to her. The yellow one makes my hand look fairer. I thought she didn't need the yellow one because she's already very fair. Hahaha.

What I also love about the store aside from their unique accessories is their packaging. They give you this paper bag every time you purchase and I think it's just soooo cute!

A Gift from the One Who Holds My Heart

This was a gift given by my boyfriend. I really like it and I've been looking for a black pair of shoes lately because my flats are a little bit 'retiring'. Haha. You may think I took this photo from some site or something, but I didn't. I took it myself.

Professional-Looking Photo
I'm not a professional photographer and I don't know how to do Adobe Photoshop, so here were the easy steps I did to achieve that edited and 'shot-taken-from-the-studio' look:

1. Get a table. Believe me. You really want to have a place a little bit higher than the floor or else, you'll suffer from backache minutes after.

2. Get a white cartolina, folder or chart. In my case, I bought an Alphabet Chart I brought from the National Bookstore and used the white back part. It was just right!

3. Put your items on top. Make sure that if you take a shot, your background is also white and keep it as clean as it can be. And...

4. Take a shot and enjoy! So that's how I got my studio-like shot of this pair of shoes. You'll be seeing more of these in my next posts.

Lifestyle Change
Anyway, I've been trying to change my fashion style and I think I'm doing just fine. My mom had always warned me about how flats make me look unattractive, but I believe otherwise. I think some people just look good on flats and I think I also look good on them, not to mention my previous post: My Interview Look: Forgetting the DOH Memorandum. I don't think I looke that bad.

I've been into colorful pieces lately and I really love the way I look and the way it makes me forget about my belly. Haha. I will show you some of my shots on my latest fashion finds and style, so keep yourselves posted. Ciao!

Teal and Sage Accessories

Are you a fashionista? Hmm... I have always believed that being fashionable doesn't always mean wearing the same colors of bags and shoes daily. Wearing a plain-colored shirt on top an animal print pair of pants or leggings. Blah. Blah. Blah.

I really think that a fashionista is someone who dares wear what most people wouldn't dare to wear. She's someone who's got a 'nose' for shoes and the latest fashion finds without the wrong perception that expensive equates something that'll look good on you.

Well, the photos you will be seeing next are my shots of Teal and Sage's accessories, which I had bought from them last December. I really like them only that I didn't even get to wear them because they were my gifts to some important friends.

Well here you go...

Latest Finds

Hello! Well this post’s kinda mixed up but I will try my best to make you understand all the pictures, make them coordinate and feel like there’s one theme. Haha. The theme’s actually about the stuff I’ve acquired lately. I don’t have a “theme title” so to speak but I’ll try to make it as fun as possible.

First on my list is this really nice Forever 21 Zebra-striped dress. Ooh! I just love this dress. I like how it actually makes you look like you’re wearing Zebra skin when it’s just some piece of deceiving cloth. Anyway, it’s really nice, so weee!

Beige Bag with Gold and Silver Chain Straps

My addiction for unique bags started just a few years ago. I always admired my mom for her good taste on bags. However, it was only a few years ago that I began using them myself.

I just like the interlocking gold and silver chain straps!

The mesh on the bottom part is also good. It's just soo unique.

All About Shoes

I really like shoes! Here are just a few pictures of my favorite wedge and a few pics of my dream shoes. I don't even know if it will look good on me but I just like looking at them.

Clothes, Clothes, Clothes!

I’d like to show you the clothes I wore for my past photoshoot. I apologize for not being able to update on the photoshoot. [The photographer seems to be very busy right now that he still isn’t able to upload the pics we had at Guimaras.]

Anyway, here they are…

I don’t own much. I just have these few pieces like the Bebe blue sleeveless with beads on the front lining on the neckline; a Nancy Crystal animal print [the one  I especially chose to wear for the shoot]; and a Levi’s long sleeves my cousin gave to me on his first voyage as a seaman.

I forgot the brands of the other ones since they’re on the laundry basket as we speak and I don’t like to touch them yet. Hahaha.

New Pair of Wedge Sandals at Php 99

Who said you couldn't buy a pair of new wedges at Php 99? Haha. Yes, I just did after a three-day sale at a mall nearby and I was sooo happy to have bought it at the cheapest price ever!

Mendrez beige wedge sandals

But I do have to tell you that it's got a little discoloration on the inside part of the wedge. It's very minimal and I guess anyone would buy it at that price. I was to purchase this pair of wedges for my photo shoot at Guimaras Island but was not able to. Instead, I bought a different pair to match the color of my outfit for the shoot.

My Work of Art

I got nothing to do much today. This is just one of the days when I feel like doing nothing useful. Thus, this drawing. Hahaha.

I remember when I was a lot smaller, I'd draw houses with my father and ask him if I could be an architect someday. I don't remember him answering. Maybe he wasn't convinced by my drawings.

My 'Results Day' Look and a Lot About Law School

I’m nervous about today because today is results day. Passed or failed are among the two options I have in mind. I took the LSAT last October 19 and after 2 days the results will be revealed. There were only around 12 of us who took the exam and I was shocked!

I had never taken an exam in my entire life with the venue nearly filled. Mind you, it was not even half way filled and the place was getting colder and colder thinking there were two air conditioning units switched to high cool while there were only more than ten of us.

Anyway, I went to the Dean’s office feeling jittery and nervous. I went to the lavatory [first] just opposite the office so I could relax and keep my cool. However, when I went out and was about to twist the door knob open, I saw a sign which said “Sorry, we are closed.” but it was nearly lunch time. It was 11:25 on my watch. So I was left with no other choice but to go back again at 2:00 PM. I was thinking that that must have been a negative sign.

I couldn’t concentrate. All I was thinking was the outcome of the exam. Time was ticking slowly and I was getting more nervous than ever.

The clock struck 2:00 and so I went back to the school again and this time, the sign was replaced with a not so welcoming “We’re open.” I went straight for the door and asked the student assistant for my results. He asked me to take a seat while he wrote something on a small piece of paper. I excused myself and headed for the lavatory. I didn’t like the way I was feeling. I was thinking negative thoughts already and while I stood inside the cubicle, I prayed.

Yeah! I flunked the college entrance exam. The first one's the Law School Admission Test, the 2nd one's the college entrance exam and the 3rd one's English usage. I got a 61 on the 2nd test so I'm up with an inteview with the dean.

Ray-Ban Wayfarer Wanna Be

I have lately been desiring to buy a Ray-Ban Wayfarer especially now that there’s a stall here at SM City selling the commodity. I was not surprised at all at how expensive it was [the cheapest being Php7, 699] because my parents used to have these sunglasses from Rayban but no longer uses them. I think it’s kind of outdated but I see the style coming back these days. I’d like to use them but because of my wide face, I could not. Hahaha.

I still long to buy them someday. I just need to save—like super save! Yeah, I know. I’m straying from my topic especially that I know you don’t seem to think that that picture above is a Rayban Wayfarer. So, I’m gonna tell you that THAT is not a Ray-Ban, a Police, Chanel or whatsoever brand because it’s brandless. My mom bought it out of sheer need to have her money converted to smaller bills at a boutique near my alma mater. They were on sale and it was at its cheapest. I have been telling my mom that I was looking for a pair of fashion eyeglasses, one that did not have a grade for those with eye defects. And so she bought it and got the smaller bills she needed so we could ride the  jeepney to our destination.

Well, that’s for now! I’m still figuring out other ways to wear the eyeglasses. By the way, I wore this pair in my previous post, My It Things.

My Interview Look: Forgetting the DOH Memorandum

My say on the termination of nurse volunteers and nursing volunteer programs, my interview look and many more…

Belle Maison white blouse; Limite dark blue high waisted slacks

The current status of the nursing profession here in the Philippines is making me fret and worry for my future. A memorandum issued by the Department of Health (DOH) regarding the termination of Nurse Volunteers and Nurse Training Programs in all DOH-retained hospitals caused alarm among registered nurses even before they get the chance of dreaming for a brighter future.

And yes, I am one of those thousands of nurses. I had previously worked as a volunteer nurse trainee at a government hospital and had to stop after a few months because that was all they required a nurse trainee— 3 months. Then, you have to rest for at least a month or two and wait for the next opening of the nurse training program.

I had long been thinking about proceeding to Medicine or Law, the only two acceptable courses I had in mind but I quit the thought thinking that my months [to even years] of constant volunteer will take me somewhere.  The memorandum had been issued August, 2011 and still then I did not think it would by all means be implemented although common sense would tell me that it has already been approved. However, my hopes were high and soaring until it was rampantly discussed in national tv stations, local newspapers and radio stations.

Then, like a piece of balloon run out of air, I shrank in my seat while listening to a local radio station discussing in depth the memorandum and its possible consequences. I had to somehow tell myself to give up my dreams for the meantime. Nursing will take me somewhere someday but after several years, maybe.

So I talked to my mom and told her about allowing me to look for a job and earn money and perhaps proceed to another profession. Much to my surprise, she approved and immediately the next day, we went to a nearby university to inquire on how to take the entrance exam.
